Best Drink

Every Sunday Matt Johnson (he's co-owner AND bartender) goes to the West Seattle Farmer's Market, picks two ingredients and invents a new drink out of 'em! A big hit with the cocktail crowd. Starts at 4PM and goes until the ingredients run out.

Best Drink

We try to make cocktails they way they did back in the golden age, before
Prohibition – fresh squeezed lime and lemon, a focus on quality, blah blah blah...
And when we create a new drink, it’s based on those same beliefs – except we have
some different stuff to put in them these days....

AMIGA

Vodka, Pear Nectar, Blueberry Juice, Simple Syrup, Lemon, Egg White.
Invented for a friend but we stole it back for you. $6.50

BROOKLYN

Rye, Dry Vermouth, Amer Picon, Maraschino Liqueur.
From the '30s, but improved upon by people not us. $7

KILL-DEVIL COSMO

Rum, Housemade Vanilla Syrup, Lime, Cranberry.
Kill Devil’s what they used to call Rum hundreds of years ago.
They should still call it that. $6.50

CARIBBEAN SHRUBB

Cachaca, Housemade Berry Shrubb, Lemon, Grand Marnier Foam.
Shrubb adds a unique zing, and everyone loves zing and uniqueness. $7

ST. BASIL

Gin, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Lemon, Basil.
We were strong-armed into inventing this by the ultra-powerful Basil Lobby.
Even so, it’s a house favorite. $7

CORPSE REVIVER #2

Gin, Lillet Blanc, Lemon, Triple Sec, Absinthe.
“Four of these taken in quick succession will un-revive the corpse again.”
[Harry Craddock, The Savoy Cocktail Book, 1930.] Yeah, they will. $6

CORN ’N OIL

Dark Rum, Falernum, Lime.
No corn, no oil…just dozens of layers of flavor and a long, murky past. $6.50

EARL JAM

Walnut-infused Bourbon, Ramazzotti Orange, Burnt Sugar, Orange Zest.
In memory of Earl. He probably never had walnut infused bourbon, but he deserves a delicious drink named after him. $7

MANHATTAN

Bourbon or Rye, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Whiskey Barrel Bitters and a
Bourbon-soaked Cherry. A Manhattan deserves good vermouth. You deserve a good Manhattan. Or, if you don’t, we’ll still make you one. $7

HEMINGWAY DAIQUIRI

Rum, Lime, Maraschino Liqueur, Grapefruit.
The way Papa used to drink ’em. A LOT. $6.50

OSLO MULE

Aquavit, Lime Juice, Mint, Ginger Beer.
There’s a right way, a wrong way, and a Norwegian way.
Guess which one this is. $7

ROSEMARY BLOOD ORANGE MARGARITA

Rosemary-infused Tequila, Lime, Triple Sec, Blood Orange Juice.
Even if you don’t like rosemary or blood oranges or margaritas, you’ll still like this.
Wait… Nope, I guess you won’t. Sorry. $7

A THOUSAND INJURIES

Cognac, Grapefruit Juice, Licor 43, Amontillado, Vanilla Bitters.
The word “hero” gets thrown around a lot these days, but if you get the obscure
naming reference, that’s what you’ll be. $7.50

PISCO SOUR

Pisco, Lime, Simple Syrup, Pasteurized Egg White, Bitters.
Chilean and/or Peruvian traditional drink. But since the Chilean in-laws may be
around…it’s Chilean. $6

STONEFRUIT ROYALE

Peach Liqueur, Prossecco, Peach Bitters.
Like a Bellini, but with more booze. $8

NONE BUT THE BRAVE

Rum, Brandy, Lemon, Allspice Dram, Simple Syrup.
You should get yourself some Allspice Dram. But try it here first, just to be sure. $7

JACK ROSE

Applejack, Lemon, Housemade Grenadine.
Popular in the ’20s and coming back. Or at least deserves to, as long as the
grenadine is real. $7

WHISKEY SMASH

Bourbon, Muddled Lemon, Simple Syrup, Mint, Lemon Bitters.
We didn’t make up the “smash” thing. I wish. $6.50

RED RICKEY

House-infused Hibiscus Vodka, Cucumber, Lime, Ginger Syrup, Soda.
We made this one up because hibiscus is pretty.
As a bonus it’s also delicious. $6.50

AVIATION

Gin, Lemon, Maraschino Liqueur, Crème Di’ Violette.
Now with Violette, just like did 90 years ago.
Packs a wallop, also just like 90 years ago. $7

OLD FASHIONED

Gin, Lemon, Maraschino Liqueur, Crème Di’ Violette.
Arguably the original cocktail. Except there wasn’t any orange in the original.
Or bourbon-soaked cherries. We can leave them out if you want. $7

SCOFF LAW

Rye, Dry Vermouth, Lemon, House-made Grenadine.
Another delicious pre-Prohibition drink, and another reason to love vermouth.
And rye. And grenadine. $6.50

WIDOW’S KISS

Applejack, Benedictine, Yellow Chartreuse, Bitters.
From 1895, and for those who want a half-ton of flavor in their cocktails. $7.50
